2019 Human Factors in Healthcare Symposium - 18 September 2019, Auckland

The Symposium explored the applications of human factors/ergonomics specific to the healthcare sector. UK keynote speakers (sponsored with thanks by ACC) presented on incident investigations in healthcare (Saskia Fursland, Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch), and the range of human factors and ergonomics applications within the sector (Dr Alex Lang, Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust). Both keynote presentations were followed by masterclasses which deepened understanding about incident investigation and human factors/ergonomics applications.

HFESNZ 21st Annual Conference - 19 and 20 September 2019, Auckland

The HFESNZ Annual Conference continued the healthcare theme, with input from our two UK keynote speakers. Alex Lang’s keynote detailed a design project that impacted the care of the tiniest patients, and Saskia Fursland delved into the use of AcciMaps to assist incident investigations. After a rollicking conference dinner (in the dark), day two’s topics broadened into the wider range of applications in our field. Day two finished with a range of discussions about important society and professional issues.
